Statement of Fundamental Truths-Article 1 The Scriptures Inspired

The Scriptures, both the Old and New Testaments, are verbally inspired of God and are the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct.

I take this to mean four things

The Scriptures are

1. Inspired-They come by the leading and movement of the Holy Spirit upon various writers. God spoke, and without a single violation of his free will, men willingly wrote what was revealed to them.
2. Inerrant-They do not err in what they teach, diverting to the right or left.  They provide a straightforward account.
3. Infallible-They neither fail in what they teach, nor do they tell fallacies.  They are a sure testimony and a true testimony.  This is the definition of trustworthy.  They are a fully trustworthy account.
4. Authoritative-They have the backing and the full attention and empowerment of the Holy Spirit, who attends to the private and public reading thereof.  The reading and teaching/exposition of the Scriptures, given the attendance of the Holy Spirit, creates a sacramental atmosphere, that is, an atmosphere conducive to an encounter with the One True God.  He is ready to act and impart grace to the hearers who read His word in faith.  They provide a moment of encounter and intimacy with the believer, and a moment of encounter that leads to conviction for the sinner.
